Feeling The Fear? How To Deal With Anxiety In A World Gone Weird

Updated: Jun 24, 2020

What's covered: Why working on your inner world is THE most important "job" you have right now & healthy ways to express feelings of anxiety or overwhelm triggered by the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Wowee, there are a lot of big, confronting and crazy things happening on the world stage at the moment, huh?

I don't blame you if you're feeling a bit weary.

I find I'm having a few of those tired and anxious moments myself.

And at those times, I remind myself:

Creating change in my inner world is THE greatest way I can impact the outer world. You might be thinking: What does that mean? What does that look like? I'm going to get my bossy boots on and strongly urge you to take a moment right now (not in a few minutes or later on today like your mind's probably telling you) and do a quick little stress-less breathing exercise with me.

This is my go-to breathing technique that quickly and naturally helps to release stress, anxiety, sadness, anger or frustration, so you can create instant calm in times of inner or outer turmoil (especially important during the Coronavirus):

  1. Place one hand on your heart and the other hand on your solar plexus (between your ribs)

  2. Inhale deeply through your nose

  3. Now allow your mouth to open and sigh on the out breath

It can be a gentle little sigh or a big ol' "Life Sucks At The Moment" sigh. Repeat - OFTEN (like all the time!). ;-) Every time you're bombarded with things outside of your control, STOP and BREATHE. Every time you feel powerless, remember you have the power to choose what you think, do or feel in this moment. Every time you get sucked into some news headline or you feel your energy plummet, remember that draining yourself helps no one; not the world, and least of all you. Keep focusing on what you CAN change.

Keep choosing to know yourself, to face yourself, to heal yourself, to forgive yourself, to love the heck out of your perfectly imperfect self.

AND... Keep listening to your body and trusting your wise self,
