I didn't want to leave.
I felt comfortable, secure, liked, valued and appreciated.
But my body was unwavering: It's time to go.
The message was clear, calm and resolute; no anger, no frustration, sadness or pain.
The truth of it hit me in my solar plexus, and has stayed with me since.
It's time to go.
This week, I chose to stand down from a part-time job that's been a source of immense growth for me.
I've often gushed to others how fantastic my work environment is: There's so much spontaneous laughter and fun. And when I'm not chatting with patients, I'm cheekily using the Pilates equipment or nursing yet another hot cuppa.
It's been a steady and safe foothold in this never-ending swirl of world change, and it's often complimented the work I do as a Psychosomatic Therapist.
Why am I sharing this mind-body example?
Because the body knows.
We ALL have access to this higher wisdom; we all have an inner compass that points us to our True North -if we choose to listen.
To some, my choice has seemed crazy, unbelievable or even foolish and naïve.
Even my own mind has set a few fear-traps: What will you do? Jobs like this don't come around every day. You don't even have any set plans! What if you can't provide for yourself?
My body's message remains the same: It's time to go.
It's time to stand at the edge of the cliff and jump boldly into the unknown, with a grateful heart and a body full of trust.
Allowing that wild river of life to take me wherever I need to go.
Am I scared of stepping into the unknown? Absolutely! But there's something that scares me immeasurably more: ignoring that inner voice, and not trusting my gut instinct.
I'd like to leave you now with one revealing bodymind question: If your body could give you one piece of advice right now, what would it be?
Pause. Reflect. Listen.
THANK YOU so much for reading, commenting, connecting and being my travelling companion on the unpredictable road that was 2021.
Sending you so much love and inspiration. :-*
Keep listening to your body and trusting your wise self,
Lauren x
